Chapter Two

Chapter Two
A penny saved is a penny earned.

Lee Li Yin held to her motto every single day and true enough, she applied it everyday. Today after the Psychology lecture, she had taken her own sweat time to walk to her car. She was dreaming again of the past. She really hated it here.

Something abruptly broke her train of thought.

A thing was shinning from the floor.

It seemed to be a coin.

She then looked around, scanning for another breathing thing around her. Nobody was around. She was sure that she was not watched. She casually walked to the coin and then, ridiculously stamped her foot onto the floor.

“OMG, my shoelace is untied,” she yelled.

Slowly, she bent down without moving her foot. She then pretended to tie her shoelace and slowly, moved her foot. In the anxiety to get the coin, she licked her lips and picked up the coin from the floor.

She then whistled and in haste, pocketed the coin.

It was now hers. It was 500 Won. Her first ever 500 Won since she stepped down in the land of Korea. To her, this was the first step in her plan.

A penny saved is a penny earned.

She felt really happy.

Now, she only needed to get a stable job. A job that won’t disturb her studies and allowed her to get some cash. She was new to the country. This was the first time she was here. She actually took Korean language course back home to prepare her for today but even if she knew to speak doesn’t mean that she know Korea inside out. She still blurred about the roads here and her father hired a driver for her.

However, a month had passed. She knew the way to college and the way back to the house. Others, was still a mystery for her. Maybe she should get a friend here. A friend that may show her ways around the town. She really didn’t want to bother her father. Her father had a lot to do at the office and home.

That is it. She just needs to work things out for herself.

She walked towards the common notice board in the campus. Every announcement pinned up there was for club activities and some of them are to inform some useless talk that was going to happen soon, begging for attendance.

Lee Li Yin really had to roll her eyes. Her one month here had taught her nothing about the syllabus but about the high and mighty kids of the loaded one. They have a life of a pig. Usually pig just sleep, eat and then poo. These human pigs were just slightly different. They seldom eat to maintain their figure for girl, have beauty sleep since they really need it and well, puke their guts out when they go clubbing. These pigs have sinful past time too. They like the pigs, liked to screw around with drugs and well, sex.

Well, it was not that Lee Li Yin had anything against them. She just doesn’t mix well with them.

Lee Li Yin didn’t want to depend on her father and well, refused to have such monotonous lifestyle. Her main goal in life was to earn more money.

She glanced around the announcement and suddenly, an oddly out of note stood out. It immediately caught her attention. It was a note informing her of a job vacancy. Nobody really could have paid any attention to it considering that it was pinned up in a college filled with people walking with thick wallet.

The simple thought reassured Lee Li Yin. She reached out and wanted to take the note down. Well, it was just a little bit more of reassurance. Before she could really do so, someone else took the note down.

It was the sissy boy, Kim Jae Jeong.

He didn’t need it. She needed it more than he does. Kim Jae Jeong, oblivious to the glare he was getting, read the note attentively. Lee Yi Lin was sure she had gotten herself a competitor.

“A waiter and a waitress are needed in the LeCaire caf,” he read it out.

“It fits us, right? By the way, my name is Kim Jae Jeong,” he introduced himself.

“UH…. I am Lee Li Yin,” she returned the favour.

“That sounded a bit weird. Lee-Li-Yin. Must be a tongue twister,” he remarked.

“Well, I don’t see anything weird with my name. Yours are weirder,” she said.

He laughed a bit and apologised, “Sorry. Can I call you Li Yin?”

“Whatever,” she said, already annoyed.
She could give up this job vacancy. The job wasn’t worth the trouble she was going to received if any of his fan clubs’ members saw them together. She turned and walked to her car.

Her father had been really good to her. He was really just really busy in work and home. He was that busy until he had to call Li Yin to have a day to day talk with his daughter. Her father had worked so hard to provide her a roof and education. Just, that sometimes, Li Yin hoped that he pay some attention to her. A roof above her head and a call a day weren’t sufficient enough replace a dad. He gave her a car too and in times like this, she was very glad that she had an international license. That meant she could drive around. She beeped her car opened and slid into her seat. She threw her files at the back seat.

She turned around and saw Kim Jae Jeong sitting right next to her.

“What are you doing here?” Li Yin almost shrieked.

“Look, Li Yin. My car has no fuel and well, we are heading to the same place,” he said.

“Are we?” she snapped back. She didn’t appreciate people who slide into others car without any notification.

“You are going to the cafe, right?”

That bastard.

Chapter One

Chapter One

Kim Jae Jeong hurried to the exit and dashed out. Kim Jun Su stuffed his notebook and his pen into his sling bag. He stood up and put his sling bag over his shoulder. Without any hesitation, he walked out of the hall. Lee Li Yin took her time. Something was preoccupying her thought that day. Slowly, the students emptied the hall and Lee Li Yin was the last one to leave.

On the way to the student car pack, Kim Jun Su searched for his hand phone in his pocket. The pocket was flat, informing him that he had left the phone in the hall. Quickly, he dashed to the hall back to retrieve his phone before someone else claimed the ownership. He arrived to the hall and walked down the stairs two at a time. At one of the balcony, he saw a girl. She had a straight hall and was wearing a simple t-shirt and a short pant fitting the hot climate in the campus. Kim Jun Su stopped for a while to observe this girl. Lately, he had been observing a lot people. It might be his newest hobby.

The girl was just walking straight. Nobody was around her. The whole campus was almost empty save for the janitor. She was just walking aimlessly and can’t even notice her surrounding.

Another scatter brain.

Surprisingly, the girl still hadn’t crashed into anything solid.

She must have walked down this path for some times, to be able to remember the surrounding and not bumping into anything. Suddenly, she picked up her head and started to scan her surrounding. She looked everywhere to her side, just to find that she was alone. However, she had forgotten to look above her.

Kim Jun Su smirked at the thought that she was being watched by him.

She quickly dashed and stamped her foot onto a particular spot on the floor. She pretended to whistle even though it was obvious she didn’t know how to whistle let alone hum. Then, she bent down.

At this moment, Kim Jun Su leaned forward to have a better look at her.

She picked up her tied shoelace and moved her foot a bit. Suddenly, a shinny coin showed itself. Slowly, she picked up the coin and put it into her pocket. Kim Jun Su swore he could see a smile on her face.

Amused by her action, he looked at her some more. All her clothing even though was simple, seemed to be expansive. She seemed to have an elegant face too. Her sneaker that she used to stamp the floor was obviously one of the newest pair in the town, not to mention from the renowned Adidas shop.

This college itself cost a lot to enter. This college was one of the most prestigious one in the whole Korea. Most of the student here doesn’t need to worry about their life as they are secured with billions worth of trust funds. Trust funds that are enough to raise their grandchildren in a wealthy surrounding. Some of them who came here were just attending for the sake of attending. In the world of influential and wealth, the deflated ego came first. Even though everyone knew that these sons of the successful are nothing but spoilt brats, these successful parents still want to keep the impression that their children are also educated.

Kim Jun Su really can’t figure out the girl. The girl was obviously rich. She couldn’t be the scholar that was offered a place here. She didn’t look smart enough. She looked like another plain Jane.

But this plain Jane was catching his attention.

Prologue

Prologue

The sun and it rays radiated onto the seat on the east of the building. The seats on the east side were preoccupied by them. Nobody wanted to sit there, to be burnt down by these rays. Everyone knew about this little environmental condition whenever they have to attend this special psychology lecture. It had been almost a month that the course had taken it start and one month was enough to find out such petty detail.

The subject itself was interesting but the lecturer was always droning while delivering them. It had been a month and yet, he was still on the introductory bit of psychology.

In one month time, the number of student attending dropped drastically from a full house to a humble number of tens. These students were either immune to the lecturer’s passive way of teaching or were required to attend all the lectures. The former includes student who gotten their way into this prestigious college by scholarship.

Or they have nothing to do for the day.

Like Kim Jae Jeong who was lazily fingering his pencil.

Kim Jae Jeong was one of the pretty boys in the college. He was admired by the crazy ladies in the campus for having more feminine features than most of his admirers. His hair was dark brown, attenuating his fair skin. He has the coldest face whenever he wasn’t smiling and killed people with his voice when he talked. A lot of his course mates had the same impression of him. He was a cold man. He looked like those who get whatever he had laid his eyes on. However, in one month time, he had proven them wrong. He was one of the friendliest freshmen and always bore a smile on his face.

Tomorrow, the lecturer would have more student thanks to this attractive student. Rumours will spread throughout the campus informing the crazy admirer that Kim Jae Jeong was attending Psychology lecture.

Kim Jun Su sitting in front of the hall was listening attentively to the lecturer.

He was not forced to attend it. He attended it in the noble quest of obtaining knowledge. His fingers gripped strongly on his pen and ran furiously across the page when the lecturer was mumbling something Kim Jun Su acknowledged as important. Kim Jun Su was another weird ball. He had the look of a man and a bit on the short side. He wore a pair of glasses to class and put them back into his spectacle box whenever the lesson finished. Usually, he tried to keep his number of friends to the minimal amount just enough to fill up the society quote. Not much was known about him. He liked to stay hidden in the crowd and then, occasionally showed up at his friends’ house for a game or two on the ps2.

In the lecture hall, someone was wishing that the lecture would actually end already. She was sitting in the sunny side of the hall and was feeling the hatred of the sun. Well, the feeling was mutual. Lee Li Yin felt really like smacking herself for forgetting to label good seat. First of all, she was almost late for the lecture. All the goody-two-shoes had already laid their butt on the seats shady side nearest to the lecturer. All the remaining seats on the shady side were too far from the lecturer to even see him. Only a complete idiot who looked like a sissy girl would sit at the far end of the hall, near the exit. Not that it annoyed Lee Li Yin. It was just a small pain in the neck. She could readily bet her life that tomorrow she will have a harder time in finding a seat because most of his fan club will know by then that he was having a concert in the hall and will most probably attend this little fan meeting of his.

“ In the 4th century B.C, Hippocrates actually stated that the human is composed of 4 different type of liquid,” the lecturer muttered.

Luckily the administrator of the institute was not stupid. They had actually prepared him a microphone.

He continued to mutter in to the mouth piece.

“And he categorised people according to the composition of these fluids in the body,”

The lecturer wobbled his way to the blackboard and wrote down four words.

Sanguis.
Chole
Melanchole
Phlegma

“And so you have it. The different composition of these fluids in the human body according to him affect your health and your mental condition. These was his postulation which was obviously wrong. but nowadays this term was used to categories people into four different group according to their personality,”

The lecturer took a look at his watch and decided it was time to end the lecture.

“Next week, we will have more to go on these topics and if you are hardworking enough, go and read up on this,”

“DISMISS,”
